I read the news today. I was not surprised to hear this. Jason Kidd is getting up there in age, I believe he will be 38 on Wednesday the 23rd. Happy early birthday J. Kidd. It was said his original plans were to keep playing until he reached age 40. However due to this supposed lockout for the 2011-2012 NBA season, Kidd said he would rather call it quits if it were to happen.
The Mavericks are a mixed team with veterans such as Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and Shawn Marion. Nowitzki, Terry and Marion have a good 5 years left in them but Kidd is questionable. He still plays very good for his age. Not a lot of 38 year olds in the league can still compete at a high level (with the exception of Grant Hill.)
The thing I love about him, and I’m sure the rest of basketball fans, is his unselfish play. He has always focused on getting the best shot/play off each possession. Even in his younger days with the Phoenix Suns and New Jersey Nets. I would much rather see J. Kidd bring the ball up and pass than see Rajon Rondo drive to the basket and do it himself. I would love to see Jason Kidd play until he is 40. He and Steve Nash have been my two favorite point guards to play the game of basketball. Hopefully the lockout will not happen for the 2011-2012 season.
