Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is getting better and better each fight. This fight he took on Peter Manfredo Jr and also put up his WBC Middleweight title. The first round started out slow. I would give it to Manfredo because he was landing his jab. Rounds 2 and 3 were Chavez Jr’s. He was hitting Manfredo pretty good as well did Manfredo land some decent shots.
Round 4 was the best round of the fight. Manfredo was pressing forward and making it a dog fight. I actually gave this round to Manfredo and had the fight even at this point. Round 5 Chavez Jr had Manfredo hurt against the ropes. Not too much longer, the fight was stopped and Chavez retains the WBC Middleweight Championship.
Sergio Martinez was looking on in the crowd. However, I don’t think Top Rank will match him up against Sergio Martinez just yet. Remember, Chavez is still undefeated at 44-0. Top Rank wishes to keep this intact as long as they can. Martinez is too much of a threat for now. So I believe a fight with Saul Alvarez is a possibility if he defeats Kermit Cintron tonight.
