strikeforce: tate vs rousey

Ahhh Strikeforce. A great promotion, with a great card last night. The main card on Showtime had 5 fights. Five fights on one card is a beautiful thing. Ronaldo Souza vs Bristol Marunde lasted until the third round before Souza got Marunde with an arm triangle choke. I have not seen an arm triangle in awhile, welcome back. Scott Smith vs Lumumba Sayers, saw Scott Smith in a guillotine choke in round 1. Smith is a fighter with a lot of experience but has been on the receiving end of 4 consecutive losses.

Paul Daley vs Kazuo Misaki went down to the wire. I thought the judges scored it right. The first judge saw it 30-27 for Misaki. This seems like a wide margin, 29-28 sounds just right. Despite, I thought Daley lost for sure. He looked outraged after the final verdict.. KJ Noons vs Josh Thomson wasn’t as bad as everyone thought. Thomson fought a smart fight by laying on KJ when he had him down. Although, he was doing the bare minimum to prevent the referee from standing the two up. Noons was rolling his eyes much of the time which was pretty funny. We’ll see KJ again, he always has a good attitude and fights hard.

Now the main event! Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey. I was rooting for Tate. Man Ronda Rousey is a big woman! Big as is muscular of course. Tate was hanging in there on her feet. As soon as the two were on the ground, Rousey was the aggressor. I can’t believe Tate took all that pain! I hope her arm is okay. Ronda Rousey is now the new Bantamweight Champion.
