The title of the book is: Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi. I finished reading it about an hour ago. Wow. Wow as in 80% of the book talked about Belushi’s drug abuse. His drug of choice? Cocaine. It is crazy that he died at such a young age, 33. 33 and dead? That is not even old enough for a mid-life crisis. Imagine if Belushi were alive today, all the movies he would of headlined. Animal House was one of his most popular films to date. Even if you haven’t seen Animal House, you have heard of it. Another movie talked about a lot in the book was Neighbors. Although Neighbors was not a huge success.
John grew up in Wheaton, IL, outside of Chicago. I remember one particular part in the book that stuck out was when him and his younger brother, Jimmy, got into it. Jimmy ended up getting the better of his older brother but apologized soon after. John would often stay up for days on end abusing drugs, eating, chasing women, etc. Ironically, his wife Judy stayed with him throughout his career. A lot of other stars are mentioned who crossed paths with John. Stars like Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Robert De Niro and more. Belushi was not too found of Chase; the two were on Saturday Night Live together. Dan Aykroyd and John were good buddies but were complete opposites.
All in all I liked the book and would recommend it to someone.
