Holly Holm is back in the octagon for the first time since losing her title to Miesha Tate. Holm faced an equally skilled opponent in Valentina Shevchenko. On the polling result of who the fans picked to win, the results were 75% Holm to 25% Shevchenko.
This was a five round fight and was well worth the watch. Both fighters slugged it out with Shevchenko getting the better of the former champion Holm. Valentina had great counter punching, leg kicks and take downs. Holly had her moments but seemed discouraged midway through the bout.
Here is how the rounds went; round 1 I give to Holm, rounds 2-5 were all Shevchenko. This young lady Valentina Shevchenko has a great future ahead of her. I believe she can revenge some rematches against Liz Carmouche or a title shot versus Amanda Nunes. Holly Holm is still a top tier contender. Ironically, the rematch between her and Ronda Rousey seems more intriguing. UFC Fight Night was a good show in The Windy City.
